Mobile DOT annual inspections

Inspections at your yard. Trucks never leave.

Federal rules require every commercial vehicle to pass a periodic inspection at least once every 12 months. The inspection isn't the problem. Losing a truck for half a day, every truck, every year, is. We bring the inspection to you.

  • Whole fleets in a day
  • Report + decal per unit
  • Defects fixed same visit
Appendix A to 49 CFR Part 396

What the inspection covers

  • Brake system, air integrity, pushrod travel
  • Coupling devices: fifth wheel, pintle, safety devices
  • Exhaust system
  • Fuel system
  • Lighting devices and reflectors
  • Securement components
  • Steering mechanism
  • Suspension
  • Frame
  • Tires, wheels and rims
  • Windshield glazing and wipers
  • Emergency equipment where applicable
What you get back

Paperwork that holds up

  • A completed inspection report for every unit, ready for your maintenance file
  • The inspection decal applied
  • A written list of anything failed or trending toward failing
  • A quote for the defects, usually fixed the same visit

A truck that fails at an outside shop sits until parts arrive. A truck that fails here usually goes back to work the same day.

We track the dates

No more expired decals at the scale house

Tell us what you run and when each unit was last inspected. We keep the anniversary dates and reach out before they come due. Fold the annuals into your PM visits and you never lose a separate day to them.

Who it's for: outfits running about 5 to 40 units with no full-time mechanic: dump and aggregate, ready-mix, grading and site work, roll-off, landscaping and tree service, propane and fuel, distribution, flatbed and drayage, utility contractors, movers, and rental yards. One-truck owner-operators get the same inspection and the same paperwork.

FAQ

DOT inspection questions

Is the annual inspection really required?

Yes. Under 49 CFR 396.17, every commercial motor vehicle must pass a periodic inspection at least once every 12 months, with a report kept and proof carried on the vehicle.

Do my trucks have to come to a shop?

No. We do the inspections at your yard. Line the units up and we work through them on a day that suits your dispatch board.

What happens if a truck fails?

You get a written list of the defects and a quote. In most cases we fix them the same visit, so the truck goes back to work instead of sitting at a shop waiting on parts.

Do you inspect trailers too?

Yes. Trailers need the annual too, and they get the same report and decal.

Will you remind me when they are due?

Yes. Tell us what you run and when each unit was last done, and we keep the anniversary dates and reach out before they come due.
